Lismirrane, Bohola, Foxfield Park, Kiltimagh, and formerly of Riverdale Court, Castlebar who passed away suddenly on October 18, 2022.

We, the heartbroken family of Michael, mother Breege, sister Sandra, adored nephew Cillian, Michael’s partner Kirsty, Sandra’s partner Jonathan, aunts Anne and Nora, uncles Sean and Michael, cousins, and extended family would like to thank most sincerely all those who sympathised with us following the sad, untimely loss of our beloved Michael. We would like to thank the Gardai from both Ballyhaunis and Castlebar for their assistance on that night, and we would like to say thank you to Mark and Emma for being there for Kirsty. Thank you to all who sent Mass cards, flowers, letters of sympathy, text messages, phone calls and condolences on Midwest Radio and RIP.ie. We would like to thank all the people who travelled long distances to be with us. To all who attended the funeral home, funeral Mass, joined us online, and attended the burial, we were overwhelmed and truly grateful for the love and support given to us at the time. To Michael’s friends from Inishbofin, we really appreciated you travelling to be with us, as Michael really loved his time working and living on the island. A very sincere thank you to Fr. Conal Eustace for his beautiful and meaningful funeral Mass, Fr. Stephen O’Mahony, Bohola, who concelebrated the Mass, and Fr. Charlie McDonnell, Westport, for his thoughts and prayers. We must mention Sharon Cuffe and Tim Lyons, who provided such a beautiful musical backdrop to the funeral Mass. A very special thank you to all of Michael’s wonderful Mayo Athletic Club family, we will be forever grateful to you all. Thank you for all the lovely food brought to our home in the days after Michael’s death, and for the beautiful guard of honour on the night of his removal. Thank you also for remembering Michael on Sunday, October 30, 2022, the day of the Dublin City Marathon. A massive thank you to all who organised Michael’s Greenway Remembrance 5k Run, which was held on December 31, 2022. Thank you all for the amazing presentation of Michael’s Mayo Athletic Club running vest, medal, and number from the Dublin City Marathon, particularly Mayo Athletic Club Chairman, John Byrne and Ann McDonnell. Thank you to all who donated to Mayo Community Living on the day of the run. Michael would have been so honoured and humbled. Michael loved running and enjoyed his many training sessions with Colette Tuohy. Colette you will be forever in our hearts. A huge thank you to Tom Hunt, Mayo Athletic Club and Adrian Keena, Castlebar Parkrun, who had taught Michael in St. Patrick’s Boy’s National School, for their beautiful online tributes. To all the staff in Mayo Community Living, thank you all for your very kind words about Michael and for the very touching guard of honour at the cemetery on the day of the burial, Michael enjoyed his work very much. Thank you to Kirsty’s friends and work colleagues for their constant support during this tough time, it will not be forgotten. Thank you to Fiona Ryan and all the staff of the Tara Café for the lovely food and continued support of Sandra. Thank you to St. Colman’s Credit Union for their support to Cillian. Thank you to all of Michael’s many friends from his days in St. Patrick’s Boy’s National School, Davitt College, VTOS, CCFE and GMIT, who came to pay their respects. To all our neighbours and friends in Riverdale Court, a huge thank you. Kirsty would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to her family and friends for their support during this sad and difficult time. Thank you to the gravediggers who prepared Michael’s final resting place. To Michael and Phil Kilcoyne, thank you for the professional and personal care you provided as Funeral Directors and friends. Thank you to all the staff in the TF Royal Hotel, for the beautiful meal provided following the burial. As it is impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our deep gratitude for everyone’s kindness following Michael’s untimely passing. Finally, Michael, it was an absolute privilege to have had you in our lives. You will be forever loved and deeply missed. Until we meet again. May your gentle Soul Rest In Peace.
